Gmail Server Down… Please Hold

baum-treeColossians 3:12, “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

It seems that nobody has enough time for patience these days.  Take communication for example.  It started with the phone.  Well I guess it started with yelling but I thought I would move us ahead a few thousand years.  At one time you could leave your house and you were phone free.  You would get home and there was no answering machine to check… until the answering machine was brought to the scene.  Do you remember call waiting? Click, Click… “oh could you please wait while I check to see if there is somebody more important on the other line?”  It was never said that way but maybe should have been.  Then there was the cell phone.  The stylish ones at least.  Do you remember when you used to actually talk on a cell phone?  Now you can text, check email, and water your plants with them.

Do you find yourself losing patience when these great technologies don’t work right?  How attached are you.  Just a little while ago I was trying to write an email and google informed me that I would have to wait because their server is down.  Wait!?  What do they mean wait?  I want it to work now!  Why do I want it to work now?  Because I have not practice the spiritual discipline of patience.  If you find yourself running thin on this attribute why not ask God to lend you some.

PS: Not responsible for difficult situations you may find yourself in once God gives you an opportunity to develop patience.
